Following is my response upon seeing a fundraiser set up to raise money to support underprivileged children in some third-world country who dreams of acquiring a formal education:

I can't help but see my parents as children where these kids are today.

This'll come off as hard to believe for some, but my parents really didn't acquire any proper formal education as children and I've finally gotten to a place of acceptance where I'm actually so proud of that fact. I'm actually proud of all the things my parents have that're "norm-ally" looked down of even just weirdly upon by most, if not all, progressive people in today's modern society.

My papa was too busy selling fruits, veggies and what not on the streets of Islamabad, PAK, as a child to be able to feed himself and his family members. (Not that my grandpa didn't do jack, but they all lived in poverty, which was, of course, God's will, so neither my parents nor us sibs complain about our ancestral past, but it's what it is.)

My papa (and his brothers) were too busy struggling to survive to indulge their desire of learning in a traditional setting like all other kids their age did (ones they saw, at least). However, they were all hardworkers w/ undying work ethic and that's all that matters. That their crippling poverty didn't break them to the point of become cheats and crooks etc. [1]

Like, I'm not even kidding. Papa has legit learnt everything he has on-the-job. It's mostly, if not entirely, experiential knowledge. He didn't read any books or listen to any podcasts on entrepreneurship, parenting or leadership etc. He was simply caused to become the best (he could) of those from practice, trial and error. And yes, the circumstances that led him to where he is today were not ideal. Is any poverty-stricken, uneducated household ever?

Regardless, we honestly can't be more grateful for all the stories we had to live to get here. I don't know where this is going, but I guess all I'll end w/ something of my tradition I learnt recently: It's best for humans to be any of the following 4 type of persons: scholars, students of knowledge, helpers of said students or at the very least, lovers of them and no! Not the ridiculous "Lover" some may think. By lover, in this context, I mean something akin to "supporter".

My parents have evolved from lovers of students of knowledge to helpers and also, in a way, students themselves, but they started as mere humans who loved acquiring an education AND people around them who has the means to even when they couldn't feasibly do so themselves, but that love of education in their hearts turned out to be a miracle-inducer (in my opinion, at least). My parents and their lives are nothing short of miracles for me.

Consequently, I don't find it very hard to believe in other miracles/ signs of God either. I'd be an idiot to ignore all the proofs I see blatantly stare back at me in my own life even. What to speak of arguments of God's existence in philosophy?! I would need to refer to them if I had any doubt in the first place and I've been thankfully put in past and present circumstances that, I repeat, are satisfyingly enough proofs of the unseen for me.

An unfolded wrap!
